Vinyl DIGZ began with a shared passion for art and music and a drive to build a space where people could be themselves. It was brought to life in Cape Town, South Africa in an effort to celebrate vinyl lifestyle while utilizing its many artistic elements to unify urban culture in South Africa. When you step into the DIGZ, everyone is on equal footing; the atmosphere is all about positive energy and a passion and curiosity for music.
Vinyl DIGZ events are located in the soul of the city featuring local and international DJ's, collectors, musicians and artists. Whether hosting an art exhibition, live music, lyric, local fashion or all of the above; Vinyl DIGZ is all about partying-with-a-purpose; promoting cross-cultural connections between people of all walks of life, coming together to celebrate the universal language of artistic expression amidst a purely vinyl sound.
"Vinyl DIGZ reminds me of the party scene during apartheid, when we all had to go underground to be together. I love it. The energy was ripe with progress and nobody took each other for granted, we were just happy to be there, to be ourselves and engage with whom ever we wanted."
Vinyl Digz is a refreshing addition to the social and artistic urban culture of South Africa, functioning as a leading example of the many ways in which the community can utilize the arts as a catalyst for change. Its listening culture knows no exclusionary boundaries-not age nor race, sexuality or class. Vinyl Digz is a movement full of unique experiences for all people to share and be inspired.
Using the streets as our canvas, the poster campaign utilizes the album art of musicians of every genre to spread the word; engaging the public with the city space while inspiring an appreciation for decades of artwork that has been hidden in the underground amidst some of the most sophisticated of music lovers.
